Sue Windley: Health and Safety Co-ordinator
Children’s safety is of paramount importance to us and we would like to highlight nursery procedure to ensure you feel confident that your child is safe when left in our care.
Hopefully by working together we can maintain our excellent safety record.
Pat Cox: Child Protection (Safeguarding Children Designated Person)
Children and young people have a right to be safely cared for and parents and carers need to have confidence that the nursery will provide safe care. All staff and regular helpers are checked by the Criminal Records Bureau. On some occasions photographs and video records are taken of children involved in nursery activities. These may be used in displays and as a means of celebrating children’s achievements in their progress folders.
Mahnaz Hussain: Equal Opportunities Co-ordinator
We aim to develop positive attitudes towards children of both genders and of different racial, cultural and ability groups.
We will always strive to see each child as a unique individual. A balanced selection of toys and books will be offered, depicting non-racist, non-sexist attitudes and showing awareness of both nuclear and single parent families. We will actively discourage prejudicial or violent feelings within the nursery, encouraging mutual respect and understanding towards each other.
Sarah Boultwood: Behaviour Co-ordinator
We expect children to have fun and learn in a calm and friendly environment. With this is mind we encourage respect between all members of the nursery which in turn breeds desirable behaviour.
Staff are trained to recognise and foresee any unwanted behaviour and have strategies to deal with most problems as they arise. We use positive methods and never use physical punishment. We use time out from difficult situations with adult support, and deal with issues calmly and sensitively giving children the opportunity to explain a situation. No child will be stigmatised.
Any ongoing situation of unwanted behaviour will be dealt with in partnership with relevant parents and a course of action will be agreed upon.
Please speak to a member of staff if you have any concerns about behaviour in nursery.
